Project Title: Senior Search Developer (Lucene or Solr)
Duration: 2,242 hours
Expected Joining Date: ASAP
Location: Park Place, New York, NY 10007

Requirements:
MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

The candidate should have:
• At least 4 years experience in building search applications using Lucene or Solr
• A minimum of 4 years experience in Java/J2EE development for large-scale enterprise applications;
• Strong knowledge of major search engines
• Strong knowledge of XML Technologies
• Experience with AJAX, DHTML, JavaScript, CSS;
• Experience with relational databases preferably Oracle;
• Strong Knowledge of BEA Weblogic, UNIX, Solaris, and Linux
• Ability to plan technical architecture and develop documentation;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required;

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
• Experience working on government technology projects with the City of New York is preferable.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
References should be provided from at least two former or current clients where the contractor has performed the same or similar work. Provide the name, address, phone number and e-mail address of the reference as well as a brief description of the work performed.
Responsibilities:

The Senior Search Developer will:
• Participate in development of systems design emphasizing the search requirements of the application
• Expertise in Lucene and/or SOLR
• Coding and designing the search elements of the application
• Perform unit testing and fixes during testing Phase
• Document coding and testing efforts
• Using best practices for development
• Perform unit testing and fixes during testing Phase
• Create/document deployment and operational procedures

Deliverables:
• All documentation regarding system design
• Build and unit tested modules for the system
• Use cases and misuse cases for handoff to QA team
